Broombriggs, Charnwood painted over a year in two different fields.
The background for this painting was completed in the sunshine of 2020. The foreground detail was added a year later from a different field. The background was then washed and adjusted so that the two different fields joined together visually! Watercolour can be a flexible medium at times.

Inspiration and subject matter for Miranda Brookes’ current work reflect the British landscape tradition, especially the watercolours of Turner, Cotman and Constable; their landscape and seascapes. Her local environment of Charnwood has proved to be a significant source for her work and echoes deeper concerns for our natural environment generally.
