Born in 1911 in Wisbech, Lincolnshire. Richard Edwards began painting in 1937. He was predominantly self-taught, initially painting landscape and portraiture. After wartime service in the RAF, he returned to his art producing coloured geometric abstract designs and cut metal reliefs and constructions. Southern Television made a documentary film of his work and he enjoyed several solo shows with London galleries during the 1960’s.
