Hambleton Wood, Hambleton Peninsular, Rutland in winter on a grey day.
A significant feature of Rutland Water is the foot/cycle path that goes all the way around it. This path is made from different materials and goes through woodland, open grassland, hills and over the dam. At this point in Hambleton Wood, the trees overhang the path and in the winter sunshine formed an almost lace archway under which we walked. The silhouettes of the trees were bathed in the winter sun.

Inspiration and subject matter for Miranda Brookes’ current work reflect the British landscape tradition, especially the watercolours of Turner, Cotman and Constable; their landscape and seascapes. Her local environment of Charnwood has proved to be a significant source for her work and echoes deeper concerns for our natural environment generally.
