"My own Bridge portfolio of etchings suggest a modest homage to an old friend and to those previous artists of a different time. The river's turn from Westminster, Big Ben to Blackfriars and St Paul's, on to Southwark, passing Whitehall Court (twin black towers) on the north side. It was here from Sidney Nolan's balcony apartment high at the centre of the building that we both marvelled on many delightful occasions at the river's twisted flow, a view embracing several bridges from East to West, a majestic sight to behold in any weather at any time of day or month." - Gordon House, Gordon House Editions 1982 - 1996.
Gordon House PortraitHouse was born in South Wales in 1932 and studied at Luton and St. Albans Schools of Art. During the 1950s he worked for an advertising agency and it wasn’t until 1961 that he was able to pursue his artistic career, supporting himself by part-time teaching. His client base was extremely diverse; besides the leading London galleries, it included the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Ashmolean Gallery.

The Tate Gallery holds more than 100 of his prints and his work is also represented in many important public collections including the Arts Council, the British Council, the Victoria & Albert Museum and the M.O.M.A. in New York. In 2004 House died and his autobiographical memoir Tin-pan Valley was published posthumously. The following year a major retrospective was held at the Millinery Works.
