Gerard Vulliamy was born in Paris in 1909 and has always lived there.
He rallied the group "Abstraction-Creation" in 1932 and his first solo exhibition was held in Paris at the Galerie Pierre the next year. In 1934 he approached the Surrealists, who invite him to attend the International Surrealist Exhibition in Paris in 1938. It was from this period that he produced most of his prominent work, which was abundantly reproduced in many books on this movement.
