Beech trees locally with the summer sunshine.
This scene was repeated all over the country as the sunshine lit up the leaves in the summer. The contrast with the surrounding trees emphasised the intensity of these colours. The beech trees marked a time when a lockdown finished and we were able to meet up with our family again, coincidently at each meeting, there was a beech tree.

Inspiration and subject matter for Miranda Brookes’ current work reflect the British landscape tradition, especially the watercolours of Turner, Cotman and Constable; their landscape and seascapes. Her local environment of Charnwood has proved to be a significant source for her work and echoes deeper concerns for our natural environment generally.
