Born in 1921, Furukawa had numerous exhibitions in London, New York and Japan including ones at Osaka’s National Museum and Fukuoka Art Museum.
His work is included in the permanent collections of The National Museum of Art in Tokyo, The National Museum of Art in Kyoto, The Ohara Museum in Kurashiki and The Roland Gibson Art Museum in New Hampshire.
Furukawa was also the recipient of a Pollock-Krasner Foundation award. He lived and worked in New York. His lithographic Poetry Series was published by Curwen Gallery and printed in Curwen Studio with the great Stanley Jones. Furukawa died in Japan in 2008.
