Stella Maris.

(A voyage shortly after the moon’s conjunction with the sun).

Referencing ‘The Birth of Venus’ by Botticelli. The Manx shearwater only comes to shore during the breeding season. They silently return to their remote island burrows at night, and preferably during a new moon or moonless night to avoid predatory gulls. Once safely on land their eerie, nocturnal cries have led to associations with the supernatural.

Richard James PortraitRichard James was born in 1963 in Northampton. He has works in private collections all over the UK and US. Much of his work makes strong use of astronomical association: an attempt to recognise the greater mystery inherent in the commonplace fragments of exhausted life. He strives to offer glimpses of the unknown, to uncover fragments of hidden mystery and explore the subliminal landscape concealed by the everyday.
We deliver art everyday, safely and securely, worldwide and for free in the UK.

Unless specified, your art will come framed, ready for the wall, at no extra cost.
