Woodhouse, Charnwood, Leicestershire in the summer sunshine.
The walks from one village to another in different seasons meant that we have become very familiar with the patterns of the seasons as well as even individual trees and bits of fencing.
This particular view was where the path opened out a little as the avenue of trees thinned. The range of greens picked out in the details of the grass and leaves contrasted with other paintings where the focus was on the skeleton branches.

Inspiration and subject matter for Miranda Brookes’ current work reflect the British landscape tradition, especially the watercolours of Turner, Cotman and Constable; their landscape and seascapes. Her local environment of Charnwood has proved to be a significant source for her work and echoes deeper concerns for our natural environment generally.
