Our concert in the Goldmark Front Room on 21st November 2014 featured the legendary American saxophone player, Bennie Maupin and his quartet. Maupin has played with many of the jazz greats of the 20th century, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Horace Silver, Chick Corea to name but a few and his distinctive sound is recognisable from albums such as Bitches Brew (Miles Davis), Head Hunters, Sextant, Man-Child (Herbie Hancock).
He was joined by Carl Orr on guitar, Vidal Montgomery on bass and Rod Youngs on drums in one of only 3 UK performances. This will be a night to remember. Contemporary jazz at its finest.
