The illustrations for over 300 books and pamphlets produced over 60 years, together with the erudite and extensive writing on art and artists are perhaps the most familiar forms of printed work for which the artist is known. Just as interesting, however, are the sections of the book dealing with Christmas cars, Broadsheets, Posters, Pressmarks and a vast array of ephemera that includes postcards, exhibition catalogues, leaflets, prospectuses, wine labels, invitations, postage stamps, book bindings and bookplates.
The whole is a testament to the prodigious energy and commitment the artist has devoted to his lifetime in art. The carefully selected illustrations accompanying each section show the artist in many of his guises - oil and watercolour painter, draughtsman in pencil, pen and ink and printmaker in lithography, etching and wood cutting.
The book is a tour de force of scholarship which will entertain and inform both those who already admire the work of Rigby Graham and others who will wish to explore more fully the artistic creations of one of Britain's most interesting artists.
