Collection: Brendan Neiland   1941 - Present

Brendan Neiland, born in 1941, is a British artist and Professor of Art best known for his architectural paintings and his depictions of building reflections which make use of a distinctive spray-gun technique originally developed at the Royal College of Art. His work has garnered him a great reputation amongst British painters and printmakers and he was an elected Royal Academician in 1992.

As well as regularly producing work and exhibiting, Neiland has also taught art and is accredited with the recovery of the struggling Royal Academy Schools, where he was appointed Director in 1998. Despite controversy surrounding his resignation from the post (and expulsion from the Academy, prompting the resignation of fellow academician Peter Blake) he is greatly admired for his teaching work and paintings alike.
