Collection: Frank Auerbach   1931 - present

Frank Auerbach was born in Berlin in 1931. He was sent, by his parents, to Britain in 1939 under the Kinderstransport scheme to escape Nazi persecution. In Britain he excelled at art and went on to study at St Martin's School of Art and then Royal College of Art. He also took additional classes at Borough Polytechnic under David Bomberg, who was to be a major influence.

A figurative painter, Auerbach has painted street scenes close to his home in London and also portraits of a small number of people repeatedly. Auerbach has exhibited worldwide and examples of his work are held in many major public and private collections.
