Randolph Schwabe PortraitBorn in Barton near Manchester, at 14 he attended the RCA but transferred to the Slade. He studied at the Academie Julian, Paris and travelled and worked in Italy.

In WWI he was appointed an Official War Artist providing images on the Home Front.

He taught at Camberwell and Westminster Schools of Art and at the RCA before succeeding Tonks at the Slade.
