Werner Lange PortraitA member of the Expressionist working group, Werner Lange’s work was, like many of his colleagues, informed by his experiences of the Second World War. In his late work in the 1950s, the painter developed an abstracting style, which is characterised by stylized and flat-like figural compositions.

His prints can be found in the Robert Gore Rifkind Center for German Expressionist Studies at the LACMA; the world’s most comprehensive and distinguished collection of German Expressionist prints and drawings, illustrated books and periodicals.
