Collection: Ivor Abrahams   1935 - 2015

Born in Lancashire in 1935, Ivor Abrahams is a painter, printmaker and sculptor whose work is often influenced by his surrounding environment. Originally trained at St Martin’s and the Camberwell School of Art, Abrahams took up sculpture against his parents’ suggestion, teaching part-time and exhibiting regularly in one-man-shows from 1962 across Europe, Scandinavia and America.

Abrahams seeks to produce artwork that is ultimately accessible to those with and without knowledge of fine art, and as such his works are rarely abstract. Instead, they incorporate elements of natural and man-made environments: owls, gardens, domestic interiors and figurative pieces all feature heavily. Abrahams’ work has been well received internationally and he was elected to the Royal Academy in 1989.
