Collection: Simon Vaughan Winter   1953 - present

Vaughan-Winter was born in London in 1953. He studied at Stourbridge College of Art, followed by a year at St. Martin’s School of Art, after which he was appointed a lecturer there. Vaughan Winter was also a visiting lecturer at the Chelsea School of Art, Royal College of Art, and Royal Academy Schools. He became Arts Editor for the London Evening news in 1979, undertaking freelance work alongside.

During the ‘90s Vaughan Winter concentrated on his two businesses: the first, manufacturing pewter miniatures, the second, an antiques emporium. By the end of the decade he decided to work full-time making art and so began his surreal and extraordinary constructions. The work is exquisitely composed, delicate, often disturbing. It can be by turns quirky, intellectually provocative and nostalgic.
