Collection: Suzanne Humbert   1913 - 1952

Suzanne Humbert was a friend and pupil of Vuillard; his influence is very apparent in her work. Humbert studied law which she abandoned to attend art college (1933-36) at the Academie Julian and then at the Grand Chaumiere. She studied lithography at the atelier of Georges D'Espagnat and Jaudon and subsequently won prizes at the Prix de Rome.

She met Vuillard in 1936 who taught and encouraged her and she went on to win the Prix D'Attainville and the Fortin D'Ivry. Humbert became a member of the Societe de Automne at the Paris Salon. She exhibited at the Salon Des Tuilleries and Vuillard was her companion up to his death in 1940.

Her work is in numerous public collections in the UK and in France.
