Mel Gooding is one of the UK's most respected art historians. Born in 1941, he is a writer and curator who has taught at Edinburgh and Wimbledon Schools of Art, among others, and contributes regularly to the art press.
He has written over 45 books on artists such as Patrick Caulfield, Patrick Heron, Gillian Ayres, Terry Frost, Barry Flanagan, Mary Fedden, Frank Bowling, Michael Rothenstein, Robert Motherwell, Ceri Richards, John Bellany and Alan Davie as well as books on general art criticism and other works.
