Collection: Charles Mozley   1914 - 1991

Mozley studied at Sheffield School of Arts and Crafts before getting a scholarship to the RCA in 1934. A freelance artist for most of his working life - making posters, advertising and public-relations materials, he was perhaps best known as a book-jacket designer and illustrator. Mozley enjoyed working with printers and had a good knowledge of graphic reproduction. He had a rather flamboyant, lively personality and much of this energy comes out in his work. In The Ballet he seems to have caught some dramatic moment, with a sketched audience and chorus to give it context.
