David Fielding Gough Boyd OAM was an Australian artist, and a member of the Boyd artistic dynasty.David Boyd is one of the most significant Australian artist from post-WWII until today, along with his brother Arthur. He was best known for his fluid landscape paintings which depicted themes from colonial history.

His colorful works can be categorized by their textured brushstrokes and wavy, psychedelic imagery. After returning home from war, he studied fine arts at the National Gallery School and began working with ceramics. Beginning in the later 1950s, Boyd pursued a career in painting—primarily producing works related to the history of Aboriginal Tasmanians in Australian.
