Elfriede Weidenhaus is a German artist known for her watercolours, drawings and original prints and has made a name for herself as an ex libris artist. Born in 1931 in Berlin she studied from 1947 to 1950 with Max Schwimmer at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig. From 1953 to 1990 she worked as a freelance painter and graphic artist in Stuttgart. In 1991 she moved to Erkenbrechtsweiler and resumed printing at the cicada press, which was founded in 1959.
