Collection: Peter Ashley   1948 - present

Peter Ashley is a writer and photographer whose work has featured in over 25 publications and who has himself published a number of books looking at the idiosyncratic nature of England, its countryside and the buildings which inhabit it. In his own words, he has a ‘leaning towards the slightly odd and neglected, the unsung elements that make England such an interesting place to live in.’

Ashley has edited Railway Rhymes for the Everyman’s Library Pocket Poets Series and collaborated with Philip Wilkinson on books accompanying the BBC Restoration programmes and The English Building Book, the ultimate guide to building types. His own publications include Unmitigated England, More from Unmitigated England, Cross Country, The Cigarette Papers and Preposterous Erections. He is also an enthusiastic printmaker, having produced series of capriccio prints of British rural towns.
