Collection: Terry Frost   1915 - 2003 

Frost was born in 1915 in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, where he was educated until 1929. He served in the British Army from 1939-45 and was a prisoner of war in Salonika, Poland and Germany Stalag 383 where he first began to paint. Returning to England, he attended Camberwell School of Art on an ex-serviceman’s grant and taught at various other colleges.

Frost produced his first abstract paintings in 1947 and held his first of many one-man shows in 1952. He has also participated in many group shows since 1953, and his work is held in collections throughout the world. Terry Frost was elected R.A. 1992 and received a knighthood in 1998. He died in 2003.
