'More than a concert, this exceptional evening unfolds like a suspended moment—a quiet exchange between two souls who understand each other without the need for words.' Kora & diatonic accordion, mandinka music from Senegal meets french traditional music.
Ablaye Cissoko and Cyrille Broto,

Great music from great musicians in the most intimate of spaces is what the Goldmark Front Room is all about. World class musicians, more used to playing concert halls than our tiny 60 seat auditorium, are coming to the gallery in Uppingham.
We have been privileged to witness some magical performances from the likes of Richard Thompson, June Tabor, Sam Lee, This Is The Kit, Martin Simpson and many more.
There will be the occasional short notice big name gig. Make sure you're on our mailing list.

We're excited to announce an intimate concert on 29th September 2026 by two virtuosos, Ablaye Cissoko (kora) and Cyrille Broto (diatonic accordion). In the UK for 2 shows only, one of them in the Goldmark Front Room, these two musicians will take us on a spiritual musical journey tinged with melancholy, a poetic and intense dialogue, and a magnificent lesson in music and humanism.
Ablaye Cissoko, a poet and guardian of Senegalese memory, makes his kora sing as one would speak to an ancestor or a child, his angelic voice resonating with deep emotion. Cyrille Brotto, an explorer of diatonic soundscapes, weaves subtle textures with his accordion, balancing breath, dance, and mystery. Together, they create a music of the moment - free and delicate - rooted in listening, trust, and simplicity.
This rare duo offers an invitation to slowness, beauty, and harmony. It is an inner music - one that awakens what unites rather than what divides. At its core, this performance celebrates connection: between cultures, timbres, silences, and shared paths.
More than a concert, this exceptional evening unfolds like a suspended moment—a quiet exchange between two souls who understand each other without the need for words.
