Sometimes the word 'gallery' simply isn't enough. Yes, it's the core of a business dedicated to the best in painting, printmaking, sculpture and ceramics. But here the books turn into paintings, the paintings turn into films. Watch our short film to find out a bit more about us and what we do.
Goldmark 42, 2026
‘Modern Masters’ seems to be the unspoken theme of this Autumn issue: explorations of the works of Picasso, Bacon, Matisse, Moore and Delaunay, and more recent masters of their craft, from the ebullient and irrepressible stained glass artist Patrick Reyntiens to the internationally renowned Korean potter Kang-hyo Lee.
This year has been busy for Goldmark publishing, too, with not one but two new monographs arriving in quick succession: a joyous introduction to the artist Anthony Gross, doyen of British etching (and a fascinating painter, war artist, animator and illustrator to boot); and art historian Andrew Lambirth’s exquisite memoir of his friendship with the painter Craigie Aitchison. Two worthy additions to any art library.
Contributors:
Michael Kurtz won the International Award for Art Criticism in 2023, and his writing on contemporary visual culture has appeared in e-flux, ArtReview and The Spectator. He works as listings editor at Art Monthly and as research assistant to Michael Peppiatt, with whom he has co-curated ‘Picasso-Bacon: What It Feels Like To Be Human’ at the Albertina Museum in Vienna.
Frank Montesonti is the author of two full-length books of poetry and multiple chapbooks. His poetry and fiction have appeared in numerous literary journals. He is a Professor of Creative Writing and Composition at National University in San Diego, California. He is also Korean potter Kang-hyo Lee’s son-in-law, whose work he has just written about for Goldmark.
Andrew Lambirth is a writer, critic and curator. Formerly art critic of The Spectator between 2002 and 2014, he has written on art for publications including The Sunday Telegraph, The Sunday Times, Modern Painters, The Art Newspaper, and the Royal Academy Magazine.
