    Emmanuel Mané-Katz (1894–1962) was a prominent Ukrainian-French expressionist painter of the School of Paris, celebrated for his vibrant depictions of Jewish heritage, rabbis, and Eastern European shtetl life. While primarily renowned for his dynamic group scenes and religious subjects, he also created striking individual portraits and character studies characterized by rich, undiluted colours and vigorous, gestural brushstrokes.

    Published by Sauret in France in an edition of 300 - a copy of the numbered justification page will accompany this piece.

    The portfolio consisted of 12 lithographs, illustrations for Shalom Aleikhem's story of 'Stempeniou'.
